2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC vs. 2022 Audi Q5: More Power, More Luxury
September 28 2021,

The Mercedes-Benz GLC has always offered much more power, more tech and more substance than its rivals. The GLC is performance-oriented, precisely efficient and deploys more space and more technology for families looking for a little bit more than convenience.
Here, we compare the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC with the 2022 Audi Q5.
More power and performance in the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC
With a trio of precisely calibrated engines, the GLC covers every need, starting with the powerful and efficient 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged unit that deploys 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The Audi Q5’s base 2.0-litre deploys a few more horses with the same amount of torque, but the latter is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission, which is a disadvantage in terms of precision compared to the GLC’s carefully calibrated 9-speed automatic.
The Audi Q5 also has a hybrid engine, which only delivers 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. This Q5 wouldn’t be able to catch up to the GLC’s next model, the AMG 43 4MATIC which is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6. This AMG-engineered powertrain deploys 385 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque.
The top Audi Q5 you can get is the SQ5. This one is powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6. Not only is this model not powerful enough to rival the AMG 43 with only 349 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, it also falls way behind when compared to what comes next with the GLC.
The most powerful GLC is the AMG 63 S 4MATIC+. This one is powered by a 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 that deploys a whopping 503 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. It not only lets the GLC speed past all Q5 models, it also surpasses most models offered in the entire segment.
More space and tech inside the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC is the embodiment of luxury paired with high performance in a compact, yet very versatile SUV. For example, it features more overall cargo space than the Q5, with 1,600 litres compared to 1,515 litres. The GLC is also equipped with the MBUX system, which uses artificial intelligence to assist the driver and passengers with their everyday drives – a system which is much more advanced than Audi’s MMI system.
